Volunteer Time Off (VTO)

Volunteer Time Off (VTO) is paid time that a company gives employees specifically to volunteer for charitable or community causes. It is the foundation of most formal volunteering programmes and signals genuine organisational commitment. Common UK models include a fixed allowance of one to three paid days per year, a monthly hours allowance, or matched time where the company matches an employee’s own volunteering. A clear VTO policy removes ambiguity for employees and managers and tends to significantly increase participation when paired with easy event sign-up.
